While some retailers are facing cut-backs from their Furniture Protection Program providers, zucora is moving in the opposite direction by offering enhanced coverage and increased service for consumers.
“For the past two years, retailers have had to deal with a dramatic decrease in furniture sales,” said Brad Geddes, President and CEO of zucora inc. “Unfortunately, we’ve also noticed a number of service program providers reducing their extended service coverage and cutting back on their levels of customer service.”
Most furniture retailers offer consumers an extended service program with their furniture purchase that protects their home furnishings from accidental stains and damage for up to 10 years after purchase. With a decrease in retail furniture sales and the accompanying slide in the sale of furniture protection programs, some service plan providers have advised retailers that they have withdrawn accidental damage coverage and are reducing their service levels in order to control claims costs.
“We believe customers want and need to be fully protected against accidental stains and damage to their furniture," said Geddes. "Because of our strong retail partner relationships we have not experienced the same dramatic decline in plan sales as some of our competitors and and that’s why we’re able to maintain, and will actually be enhancing our coverage programs.”
